Marian

596[1]

Marian’s first affiliation with Austin Animal Hospital was as a client, coming in with her first kitten. Years later saw a puppy added to the growing family. Moving from the area saw a departure to a nearby area and a bigger growth in the family dynamics, both 2 and 4 legged.

Marian has been involved in pet therapy with that first puppy for nearly 15 years having visited at a nearby senior’s home and is currently the facilitator of the visiting program within the Royal Columbian Hospital, now visiting with 3 of her dogs.

Pet therapy is a ‘sane’ endeavour with participation in Flyball an ‘insane’ endeavour. With border collies in tow Marian has participated in the sport of dog racing since 1999, travelling all over and meeting other crazy dog people with the same crazy plan, – race dogs and having fun.

In between everything else Marian had been a stay at home mom raising her family, being a seamstress sewing for people and pets alike. With the number of pets rising within the household, changes were necessary and she decided to go back to school and became a veterinary assistant, mainly to assure the survival of the varied and numbered pets within the household which now numbers just under 20. Marian is a graduate of the Veterinary Office and Animal Care Program through Douglas College which is what brings her back full circle to join the team at Austin Animal Hospital.
